The history of the Minato family, which exists as the temple town the Ise Shrine, the highest shrine in Japan, dates back to the early 18th century in the middle of the Edo period. Since then, the family has been involved in the making of protection charms for the shrine. The Minato family inherited this traditional technique from generation to generation, and by 1900 they had built up enough trust to receive orders for the most important talismans from major shrines all over Japan. Since then, the company has become the largest supplier of talismans and amulets to shrines and temples all over Japan.
